TurQuoize Fine Art is delighted to announce the launch of TurQuoize 101, an offering of courses and workshops to be held in our beautiful gallery.  TurQuoize 101 provides a unique new environment where anyone interested in all aspects of the arts can come to play.  Here we encourage you to set aside anxiety and self-limiting ideas all within a stimulating, colorful setting.

The Body as Art

The Body as Art  -  Basic Life Drawing

In this course, beginners will learn how to catch the essence of the figure while coming to an understanding of its basic anatomy.  Principles of drawing­-tone, line, light and shadow, proportion, and composition--will be taught in a fun and relaxed way with students being encouraged to work large and freely.
 
Instruction will be provided by Jessica Levman, a Master of Fine Arts and former University Art Instructor who has been exhibiting her own work for over nine years in both solo and group exhibits.  Her work is included in the Art Gallery of Ontario Archives.

Color Mysteries

Color is more than an outward visual perception.  In this course, you will breathe into the inner dynamics of the prismatic colors and the consciousness of the chakras in a "Wet on Wet Watercolor Painting" adventure.
 
This course is offered by Stephanie Barwick.  She has been working with transformative, process-oriented art since 1972, during which time she explored the healing power of the Mandala.  She is a graduate of Arscura's (www.arscura.com) Art Therapy program and strongly believes that the Creative Spirit is the ultimate healer.  She is also a graduate from the Reflexology Association of Canada.

From realistic to non-representational, glazing to alla prima painting, oils lend themselves to many different styles.  This course will introduce the student to the unique characteristics of this medium while allowing each individual to explore their own creativity.

Sing Me The Creation:
Using the many delightful and unusual exercises, both individual and collaborative, developed by Paul Matthews in his book Sing Me The Creation, we will work through habitual modes of expression to arrive at a new freedom with language.
 
About Jane Anne Clegg: After completing a degree in English at the University of Toronto, Jane Anne pursued studies in Speech and Drama in England.  She has taught English, and Speech and Drama to high school students and adults for many years in England and Canada.
