The result of this difficult and expensive process (over thirty steps taken over three days) is a print with
the longest tonal scale, highest resolution and the largest color palette of any process. Unlike prints made by any other method, it has been estimated that under normal lighting condition carbon prints will suffer no degradation in color for
hundreds of years. Even carbon prints tested under severe lighting conditions such as direct sunlight, and/or under high-levels of artificial light, have been observed to show no visible color fading after years of repeated exposure to these extreme lighting conditions. However, no one would recommend such extreme lighting practices during the normal care and presentation of any valuable artwork-on-paper.
